VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Three Valley City High School instrumental students were selected to participate in the James Ployhar Honor Band on October 4-5th at Valley City State University.

The Ployhar Festival included a Wind Ensemble for advanced high school band students and a concert band for highly accomplished band students.  The students auditioned either electronically or in person with Mr. Jerrold Heide, band director at VCSU and were selected and chaired according to their audition scores.

Valley City High School students selected were:  Abigail Redfearn, 8th grade alto saxophone;  Casey Kruger, freshman french horn; and Tucker Schonert, senior baritone horn.

The festival included rehearsals for a day and a half, instrument sectionals, instrument workshops, a VCSU faculty recital and a concert finale including both the James Ployhar Wind Ensemble and the James Ployhar Concert Band.
