CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Senior Kiera Eli scored 11 of her game high 13 points in the second half to help the Cardinals of Carrington defeat the Aggies of Velva Tuesday night 48-37 in a non-region match up in Class B Girls basketball. The Cardinals are 1-0, Velva is 0-1.

Carrington scored only two points the entire second quarter, but still led at halftime 17-14. The Cardinals were sparked by Eli in the second half as well as Senior Marah Schmitz adding six of her nine total points in the fourth quarter. Senior Addison Hoornaert and Junior Hannah Hagel added nine points each as well. Leading the way for Velva was Junior Madison Effertz with 10, eight from the free throw line. Velva was 18/38 at the charity stripe, Carrington 8/14.

Next up for RV Carrington will be the Stutsman County Tournament at the Jamestown Civic Center running December 12th-14th. Pairings will be announced next week, all games will be broadcast on Thunder Country 98.3 and newsdakota.com.
