JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Entrepreneur Center (JREC) will be hosting a speaker on Tuesday, December 10th on podcasting.

In a recent Forbes article, it was reported that podcasting has since become “mainstream”.

The article states:

“According to Edison Research and Triton Digital, there are now 62 million Americans listening to podcasts each week, up from 19 million in 2013. One reason for the growth is the number of choices podcast listeners have today. There are now over 800,000 active podcasts with over 54 million podcast episodes currently available worldwide. Because of a low cost of entry, in the first ten months of 2019, a record 192,000 new podcasts have been launched.”

i3G Media Corporate Engineer Jordan Bitz will be sharing information on starting up your own podcast including how to setup your space, equipment to buy, and how to distribute your original content.

Bitz says there’s not a major difference between a radio station and a podcast studio.

Bitz says it could be daunting to get started, but he’ll be answer questions on how to start and what steps they need to take.

Bitz stated his experience comes after working with a high school station, moving up to a station in Bismarck, and later becoming an engineer in Idaho.

He says whether you want your podcast to cover gardening or Dungeons and Dragons, there’s a lot opportunity to join the mainstream trend.

The podcasting workshop will be held in Room 134 in the Unruh-Sheldon Building on the University of Jamestown campus. The event runs from 6:30 PM to 8 PM and is free and open to the public. You’re encouraged to register ahead for the event.
