VALLEY CITY (vcsuvikings.com) – Eight different Vikings scored in double figures Monday night as the VCSU men’s basketball team rolled to a 112-58 victory against Oak Hills Christian College.

Playing on their home court for the first time since Nov. 13, the Vikings jumped out a 30-0 lead after 10 minutes of play and coasted the rest of the way for the 54-point victory.

Valley City State improves to 2-10 overall this season. Oak Hills Christian College drops to 0-12.

VCSU had just nine players active Monday due to illnesses. All nine players scored at least seven points and eight of them reached double figures.

The Vikings shot 66 percent overall (48-73), 41 percent on 3’s (12-29) and went 4-for-8 at the line. Oak Hills Christian College finished the game shooting 32 percent from the field (20-62), 36 percent on 3’s (16-44) and 2-for-2 on free throws.

Jalen Addison and Chris Thompson each scored 16 points to lead VCSU’s balanced attack, with Thompson adding eight points and four assists. Austin Lee turned in a double-double from the point guard position with 11 points and 10 assists. The Vikings finished with 31 assists on 48 made baskets.

Michael Cornelious scored 15 points, and Denzel Kennedy added 13 points and seven rebounds. Also reaching double figures was Will Tinjum and Hunter McCalla with 12 points each, and Kevin Schramm scoring 10. McCalla sank four 3-pointers while Lee went 3-for-3 from the 3-point line.

VCSU held a 46-18 rebounding advantage, including an 11-3 edge on the offensive glass. The Vikings finished with 10 steals, including three each by Kennedy and Lee.

Oak Hills was led by 20 points and six 3-pointers by Roman Konsella.

Up next: Valley City State travels to No. 6-ranked Dakota Wesleyan University on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Tip off is schedule for 7 p.m. in Mitchell, S.D.
