VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – LaMoure/Litchville-Marion and Milnor/North Sargent will play for the Barnes County Tournament title Saturday. The Loboes defeated Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page 59-28 while the Bulldogs downed Enderlin 61-52. In the consolation semifinals, Sargent Central defeated Griggs County Central 51-39 and Maple Valley defeated Barnes County North 59-44.

LaMoure/Litchville-Marion 59, Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page 28

LaMoure/Litchville-Marion used three 6-0 runs in the first half to take a 22-11 lead at halftime on the way to a 59-28 win over Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page in the semifinals of the Barnes County Tournament Thursday night at Valley City State University.

The Loboes shot just 24 percent in the first half and had as many field goals, seven as they did free throws. Molly Musland had as many points in the first half as the Spartans did as a team, 11. She ended with a game high 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Kaylynn Siedschlag had ten points and five rebounds. Ellie Holen had another good floor game with seven points, five rebounds, seven assists and six steals.

Josie Flaten led the Spartans with eleven points and eleven rebounds.

LaMoure/Litchville-Marion, now 2-1 on the season, is in the title game for a fifth straight year and looking for its fifth straight BCT title.  Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page, who finished second twice to the Loboes, with take a 2-2 record into Saturday’s third place game.

Milnor/North Sargent 61, Enderlin 52

Four players scored in double figures and Milnor/North Sargent was 10-11 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to pull out a 61-52 win over Enderlin in the other semifinal game Thursday night in a matchup of Region 1 teams.

The Bulldogs pulled away by opening the fourth quarter on a 11-3 run to take a 51-39 lead. The Eagles got it to eight points a couple of times but never could get over the hump.

Annika Nelson led the Bulldogs with 15 points, six rebounds, three steals and five blocked shots. Christina Mathias added 14 points and a team high eight rebounds. Dylan Frederick and Jasmine Sherlock each had 10 points. Frederick had seven rebounds and Sherlock had six.

Katelyn Tingley led the Eagles with 23 points and seven rebounds. Raelee Bartholomay came off the bench to score 11 points. Genevieve Gruba added eight rebounds.

Milnor/North Sargent is now 3-1 on the season. Enderlin falls to 1-3. The Bulldogs are in their first title game at the BCT.

Maple Valley 59, Barnes County North 44

Maple Valley used a big second half to win its consolation semifinal Thursday night. The Raiders trailed Barnes County North by two points at halftime, but outscored the Bison 31-14 over the final 16 minutes of play en route to the 59-44 victory. 

Maple Valley advances to the consolation championship on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The Raiders will play Sargent Central. Barnes County North drops will play in the seventh place game at 12 p.m. Saturday against Griggs County Central. 

Three Raiders scored in double figures Thursday night, including a 15-point, 14-rebound performance by Emma Tichy. Maple Valley finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds, including nine by Tichy. Courtney Hovelson finished with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Madison Olson also had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. 

Ashley McFadgen scored 16 points to lead the Bison, while Courtnie Fick made three 3’s off the bench and finished with 14 points. Kendra Greshik totaled nine rebounds and five assists for the Bison.

 Maple Valley had 19 steals in the game, including four each by Tichy, Hovelson and Iris Richman

Sargent Central 51, Griggs County Central 39

Sargent Central had four players score in double figures Thursday night en route to a 51-39 win over Griggs County Central. The Cadets held a 22-19 halftime lead and then outscored the Cougars 29-20 over the final two quarters. 

 Sargent Central advances to play Maple Valley in the consolation championship Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Griggs County Central will play for seventh place at 12 p.m. Saturday against Barnes County North. 

 Jami Bopp led Sargent Central with a strong all-around game, totaling 14 points, seven rebounds and six steals. Allison Peterson made three 3’s and finished with 14 points and four assists. Karah Zirnhelt added 12 points and five steals, and Brynn Peterson scored 11 points for the Cadets. 

 Sargent Central forced 25 turnovers by Griggs County Central, which led to 30 points off turnovers for the Cadets. 

Jenna Larson had a big game for Griggs County Central, shooting 7-for-11 as she finished with 17 points and eight rebounds. Kennedy Hannesson posted 14 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Cougars.
