JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A former patient of the North Dakota State Hospital facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault is tentatively scheduled to be on trial in February.

Jason Benefiel, 32, is accused of striking and choking an employee of the State Hospital in 2019. The jury trial has been tentatively scheduled for February 25th in Southeast District Court.

The date was set after Judge Cherie Clark had denied a request from the Stutsman County state’s attorney’s office to order a third psychiatric evaluation.
