JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Dr. Kathleen Brock is an assistant professor at the University of Jamestown and has spent previous years researching women incarceration and more.

Dr. Brock has conducted several studies out of the University of Wyoming. She says she got involved and interested in the topic when their gender women studies with a focus on incarcerated women came about.

Dr. Brock says ultimately, it was found that education played a large role in the recovery for these incarcerated women. She says she began to work with educational programs and began tutoring some of these women.

She has also assisted in developing different teaching materials at the University of Wyoming including Women in Society, Survival: What Lies Within, Financial Literacy, Memoir Writing and more.

Dr. Brock was hired on at the University of Jamestown in 2018 due to her extensive work in social justice.

She has also continued to implement her research in the curriculum, with a new minor being introduced in the Fall at UJ.

Dr. Brock says in her short time, she and another student have already been published in the Journal of Correctional Education which looked at the reasons incarcerated women dropped out of High School.
