Sioux Falls, S.D. (NewDakota.com) – South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem announced today that her state will be the first in the nation to run a state-wide trial of hydroxychloroquine to fight Covid-19.

The study will be done in conjunction with Sanford Health. Sanford will be the lead on the trial.  Gov. Noem says all of the other health systems in the state are on board. She says the first doses will go out today.

The controlled study will initially include 2,000 outpatient individuals exposed to COVID-19, including frontline health care workers and other high-risk patients.
