Audrey Sundquist, 91, of Lisbon, ND previously of the Finley, ND area died in Lisbon of natural causes on May 30, 2020.

Visitation for the general public will be held at Bang Lutheran Church rural Portland, ND on Wednesday June 3, 2020 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, a private funeral service for Audrey’s family will then follow.

Audrey was born the middle child of five to Charles and Ellen (Lavanger) Hillesland near Kloten, ND August 2, 1928. Audrey attended school at Kloten, ND graduating the valedictorian of her small senior class. She married John O. Sundquist on April 1, 1948. Children born to them are Ronald, Arlene, Warren and Helen.

Audrey’s legacy is her life of faith and quiet strength. She was a faithful wife, an “always there” mom, a baker of good bread and a good friend with a listening ear. Audrey was a member of Bang Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was otherwise involved. She was glad to sit on the election board at the little community township hall. Audrey was a member of the neighborhood birthday club. She enjoyed crocheting and cross stitch and gave these time consuming gifts of love mostly to family members. Audrey, like many farm women gardened and canned (mostly out of duty and necessity) but she planted flowers out of joy.

John and Audrey sold their farm home in 2008 – they then retired to Litchville, ND. After several years in Litchville, they moved to Valley City due to John’s failing health. In Valley City they resided at the Legacy Place together, Audrey also lived at the Rudolf Apartments and Bridgeview Assisted Living. Audrey and John celebrated 65 years of marriage before John’s passing. Audrey lived at the North Dakota Veteran’s Home for one and a half years before her passing.

Survivors include her children Ronald (Connie) Sundquist of Fargo, Arlene (John) Andrus of Valley City, Warren (Deborah) Sundquist of Milnor, and Helen (John) Olson of Litchville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and a brother Dennis (Jackie) of Augusta, GA. Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, a sister, two nieces, a nephew and treasured in-law’s. Burial will be at Bang Cemetery.
