William “Bill” John Lipetzky, Sr. passed away May 31, 2020 at Ave Maria Village. He was born on the home farm May 26, 1926 to John and Mary (Foy) Lipetzky.

Bill attended country school and Kensal High School. He enlisted in the US Navy on November 22, 1943 and received his training at Lake Union, Seattle. Bill shipped out from Treasure Island, San Francisco on the USS Uvalde as an electrician’s mate. It was at this time he was notified that his brother, Cletus, was missing in action. After his discharge May 3, 1946, Bill returned to Kensal and began farming.

Bill enjoyed going to dances which is where he met and later married Norma Spitzer June 21, 1947. They continued to farm. In later years, they traveled and spent winters in Mesa, AZ. Golfing became a passion there.

Bill was a lifetime member of the American Legion (74 continuous years) and St. John’s Catholic Church. He was on the Kensal Elevator Board and served as president for several years.

Bill is survived by his wife of 72 years, Norma and 6 children: Kathy (Jim) Johnson, Cletus (Karen), Kensal; Bill Jr. (Dixie), Jamestown; Debra (Bruce) Spitzer, New Prague, MN; Susan (Brent) Nogosek, Evanston, WY; and Doug (Sharon), Hinckley, MN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary L. Frederickson, Waite Park, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cletus and Donald; sisters, Cleo, Delores, Elaine; and granddaughter, Michelle Reindahl.

Mass of Christian Burial: 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2020 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Kensal, ND withy Father Sean Mulligan officiating.

Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Kensal.

Arrangements are in the care of Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.
