CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The traditional Independence Day Parade was held as usual sponsored by the Carrington Area Chamber of Commerce.

Earlier this summer, it seemed it wouldn’t happen, but with extra coronavirus safety measures in place it was a go.

The temps were high and the number of parade entries were lower than usual. The quality of the entries made up for quantity reported Laurie Dietz, Chamber exec.

Parade judges chose Matt Paulson’s 1978 red Cadillac Eldorado (driven by Jack Paulson) as Best Vehicle and CHI – Carrington Ambulance received Honorable Mention.

This year the parade theme was ‘United We Stand’ and Best Use of Theme honors went to Bethel Chapel’s float entry. Honorable Mention in this category was Garr Dental Center.

CHI St Alexius – Carrington Health received the judge’s top pick for Best Decorated Float. Carrington FFA entry was noted as Honorable Mention.

A special thank you to our flag carriers this year, Carrington FFA members Lea Mittleider and Elizabeth Lee who carried for the longer parade route on this hot holiday.
