June Joan Fietzek was born June 20, 1934 in Alfred, ND to Floyd and Ada Johnston. She attended Millarton and Jud schools and later graduated from Jud, ND.

On September 10, 1953, June was united in marriage to Henry (Hank) Fietzek at Millarton Lutheran Church, Millarton ND. June was a homemaker and also farmed with her husband. They purchased her father-in-law’s (George Fietzek) farmstead and continued to farm until retiring March 27, 1991. For a number of years June enjoyed working as a part time employee at the Millarton Post Office. June was a member of the Millarton Lutheran Church then later St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND.

June dearly loved her family and the time she spent with them. She had many interests: in early years she was on a bowling team in Nortonville and belonged to a community birthday club, served as an election poll judge at the Millarton Hall, she enjoyed baking (particularly with her daughter, Lucinda) with kuchen and pies being the favorites, reading, traveling, and a great love for fishing with family. Her son, Henry, took June and Hank fishing most weekends during summer and fall on the lakes at Devils Lake, ND and Buffalo Bay, Canada. June and Hank owned several airplanes and enjoyed flying to visit family. She participated in many area centennial parades with family members driving old pickups, go carts, and miniature ponies pulling carts and even their miniature donkey.

June will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ask her family and they will use these words to describe her: a salt of the earth lady who was loving, strong, wise, selfless, energetic, honest, spunky, caring, hard-working, a great story teller, and was an instigator of fun for her grandchildren.
