House Committee On Agriculture Republicans

 

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Agriculture Committee’s Nutrition, Oversight and Department Operations Subcommittee held a hearing to review the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farmers to Families Food Box program. After the hearing, Subcommittee Ranking Member Dusty Johnson (SD-AL) and Committee Ranking Member K. Michael Conaway (TX-11) released the following remarks:

 

“When COVID-19 upended the food supply chain, USDA acted swiftly to create the Farmers to Families Food Box program. Thanks to this program, over 95,000 boxes to date have been distributed to South Dakota families in need. While USDA will continue to work to fine-tune the program, there is no denying the tremendous help this program is providing to farmers and families across the nation,” said Subcommittee Ranking Member Johnson.

 

“The Farmers to Families Food Box program is working as intended to benefit both farmers and communities impacted by the pandemic, and no matter the circumstance, anyone in a distribution area can receive assistance. There are no strings attached nor eligibility requirements for families in need of this additional nutrition aid. Rather than continuing to nitpick a wildly successful program, we should turn our attention to supporting America’s farmers and ranchers during this difficult time,” said Ranking Member Conaway.
