JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Department of Commerce has made the Economic Resiliency Grant available to private companies affected by the pandemic.

“North Dakota’s economy had a significant impact caused by a declining agriculture economy, a drastic reduction in oil prices beginning in the early spring, and on its heels, a global pandemic, hitting North Dakota in mid-March,” the office states.

Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Emily Bivens says there are grant funds available for area businesses that meet the criteria.

The federal government has made billions of dollars available through the CARES Act to individuals, small businesses, healthcare systems, and other important sectors of our economy to mitigate the impact of the pandemic, gaps continue to exist, including consumer reluctance to re-enter the marketplace.

Currently, the grant application availability has been pushed back and no date has been set just yet. Bivens says they have information for area businesses through their office.

Bivens says there’s a lot of opportunity for businesses who have taken steps to increase safety and prevent COVID-19 spread.
