JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A football camp hosted by the Jamestown Football Boosters will help teach participants all about the fundamentals of the game.

Co-organizer Gary Schmidt says the camp will teach area 5th & 6th graders all the beginning tools to help understand the game of football more before entering middle school.

Schmidt has been with the program for the past five years, which has run for more than 20 years in Jamestown. The camp will be full pads and practices will be held a few times a week.

Once practices, scrimmages, and games are played, Schmidt says they’ll wrap up the camp with the Bubble Bowl, a game held at the Two Rivers Activity Center.

Schmidt says COVID precautions will be taken, including small group focus and kids are encouraged to bring their own water bottles and mouth guards.

Schmidt says they’ll hold a parent meeting on August 27th for parents to learn about what’s expected in the camp and to answer questions. Registration is set for Tuesday, August 18th at the Hillcrest Softball Diamonds. The cost is $80 and that includes all practice equipment and a t-shirt at the end of the camp.

Coaches and volunteers are also needed. You can contact Gary Schmidt at 701-659-1744 for more information or to become a coach or volunteer.
