JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Local internet users may have been experiences slow or buggy internet today.

Dakota Central reports that a major internet outage has been reported upstream from the networks between Minneapolis and Chicago.

“We have been informed that the issue is being worked on, but we have no estimation of when it will be resolved,” the company states. “Back-up routes are in place for our internet traffic to re-route when there is an outage, but in this case other pipes are full creating a snowball effect.”

The entire state and possibly upper-midwest could be experiencing connectivity issues. Most websites can be reached, but may be slow.

“Unfortunately, VPN and VOIP services are not likely to work at all, or drop because of their need for real-time data,” the company added. “We appreciate your patience, and we are hopeful that services will be back to operating at full strength soon.”
