JAMESTOWN, N.D. (jimmiepride.com) – The University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team won its home opener Tuesday night, defeating Dordt (Iowa) University 3-1. Set scores were 25-22, 25-19, 19-25, and 25-18.

Jamestown remains unbeaten and perfect in the Great Plains Athletic Conference at 3-0. Dordt falls to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the GPAC.

Anna Holen (JR/LaMoure, N.D.) led a balanced offensive attack with 13 kills and hit a team-high .220 for the match. Kalli Hegerle (JR/West Fargo, N.D.) finished with 12 kills and Nicole Schmitz (FR/Oakes, N.D.) seven as six Jimmies racked up five or more kills on the night.

Setters Jackie Meiklejohn (JR/Dickey, N.D.) (27 assists, 17 digs) and Megan Gaffaney (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) (10 assists, 12 digs) posted double-doubles, as did Holen, who led the defense with 21 digs. Sydney Ellingson (SR/Langdon, N.D.) chipped in with 18.

Corina Huff (SR/Breezy Point, Minn.) ended with six block assists and Hegerle four. Holen, Jayla Ritter (JR/Forest Lake, Minn.), and Taylor Sabinash (JR/Kensal, N.D.) all recorded a solo block.

Ellie Holen (FR/LaMoure, N.D.) had two of the Jimmies’ four service aces.

UJ narrowly outhit Dordt .141-.132 despite making one more attack error (27-26).

Next up for UJ is a road game Wednesday against Valley City State at 7 p.m. The Jimmies return home for a pair of games on Saturday, October 3 against Briar Cliff (Iowa) University at 12:30 p.m. and University of Northwestern-St. Paul at 6 p.m.
