FARGO, N.D. (newsdakota.com) – Oakes (4-1) responded after dropping their first game of the year last week with a 64-21 win at Oak Grove (1-5).

Last Friday marked the second time this season Oakes posted 60+ points in a victory (Oakes def. Hatton/Northwood 61-3 earlier in the year). The offensive onslaught started early when the Tornadoes posted 30 1st quarter points followed by a 28 point 2nd quarter.

A majority of the damage was inflicted on the ground. Oakes’ offense ran the ball 45 times while calling just six passes in the entire game. Even with little action through the air, quarterback Garret Meehl still managed to toss two scores, on two completions, including a 49 yarder to Ashton Biesterfeld.

Moments later, Biesterfeld made his impact by returning an interception 57 yards for a score. In total, six different Tornadoes scored a touchdown Friday night in the lopsided victory. Because of the blowout, coach Dobitz was able to cycle in a lot of different guys to see the field. On defense 25 different players recorded a tackle.

The 4-1 Tornadoes return home this Friday night to take on Northern Cass (2-5) coached by former Oakes assistant Tyler Ukestad. Pregame starts at 6:45, kickoff slated for 7:00 on KDDR “The Tornado.”
