JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Sanitation Department will be tasked with implementing a flat fee, small debris container program in the city.

Sanitation Foreman Shawn O’Neill says the program would be limited to household trash only.

The on-call service includes commercial sizes of 4, 6, and 8 yards with a flat fee of $25 for delivery and removal. Costs would vary for MSW waste. O’Neill added there would be many uses for the program.

O’Neill says they have a list of items that can or can’t be accepted.

There would also be commercial penalty fees. The committee unanimously approved the service.

The committee also discussed the cost to grind the high volume of wood waste including equipment cost, maintenance, and availability of vendors to provide the service on a schedule.

The committee considered equipment to possibly purchase. Council Member Dave Steele suggested reviewing ideas to obtain a grinder for future consideration, and the item was moved to the November committee meeting.
