JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Parks Department saw a nice revenue jump in the 2020 camping year compared to 2019.

Park Board Superintendent Karl Bergh reported that in 2019, the county received approximately $77,500 in total camping revenue. He says that also included revenue from the previous concessionaire of Pelican Point.

Bergh says the biggest revenues came from Lakeside Campground.

He says it’ll be hard to improve on that, but they will attempt to do that in 2021.

Bergh added an interesting bit about Parkhurst campground, where they had a camp host for the first time this summer.

The county had invested $3000 to have a camp host, adding an additional $2700. He says next year, they won’t have any improvements that need to be made and hope to have the host for the entire summer.

Commissioner Mark Klose asked what the different in expenses were for Pelican Point now that the concessionaire takes care of 100 percent of the expenses. Bergh will bring that report to the park board later this month.
