VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The following is news release from NDSU Barnes County Extension Agent Sue Milender.

Barnes County 4-Hers, Allison Bryn, Alyssa Thomsen, Chesney Thomsen and Ella Olson, have advanced to the NICE Idea Showcase Finals to be held virtually on Thursday, Nov 19th. They are one of five finalist teams selected to showcase their ideas during ND Innovation Day. Students have been learning creativity, problem-solving and entrepreneurial thinking in Nice Idea, a program that was launched this fall.

Competing against thirty teams from across North Dakota, students were given real challenges to work through and advanced to the Showcase by demonstrating a win/win partnership, design thinking and an opportunity mindset in their solution.

Powered by The Nice Center at NDSU, ND Innovation Day is scheduled for November 19 and is a celebration of North Dakotans who are putting innovation to work in their classroom, communities and businesses. Nice Idea will be featured from 1:00 – 2:00 Central Standard Time and free tickets to the livestreamed event can be reserved https://www.eventbrite.com/e/north-dakota-innovation-day-tickets-123515976611.

Students will be competing for cash prizes and NDSU scholarships for those who want to continue exploring entrepreneurship after high school.

The NICE Center is awarding a People’s Choice award and Milender is asking community members to support our local youth by joining the free event and voting for our Barnes County 4-H team this Thursday.
