JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County is continuing their search for a new auditor.

The county was left without an auditor after previous auditor and COO Nicole Meland submitted her resignation in October. Jessica Alonge has been serving as interim auditor.

County Commission Chairman Mark Klose says they haven’t had any serious inquiries on their advertisements so far.

Klose added something different may have to be done in order to fill the position. He says focusing on a more financial search while lessening focus on other job requirements. Klose says they did tweak the advertisements, broadening their search parameters.

He added a big part was having someone who could work with financials as part of the position.

The position is responsible for managing and directing the County’s leadership and serves as the communication and business operation liaison between the Board and the County’s officials. The position also manages and directs the allocation of County resources to accomplish objectives and perform the statutory duties of the County Auditor.

Klose says the hiring committee may meet and explore their options and look at the hiring description more closely.
