Lois G. Muncy, 89, Valley City, ND formerly of Dazey, ND passed away at Essentia Health Fargo, Sunday, December 6, 2020. The funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Friday, December 11 at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City with visitation from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in the Dazey Cemetery.
Lois Geraldine Oettle, the daughter of Fredrick and Olga (Lund) Oettle was born March 31, 1931 in Valley City. She grew up on a farm west of Sibley, ND and attended Sibley Trail School until the eighth grade. She then went to school in Dazey where she graduated in 1949. After school she helped her folks on the farm and also a couple of neighbors at their farms.
Lois was united in marriage to Keith Muncy on June 14, 1953 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Dazey. They built a new house on Keith’s parents’ farm in 1954 where they continued to farm until their retirement in 1992. Keith and Lois moved to Bridgeview Estates in Valley City in June of 2018.
Lois was very active in the Dazey community. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, a lifelong member of Sibley Trail Homemakers and was the club’s secretary. Lois would also help out serving food when Dazey had their big Labor Day beef and buffalo barbeque. She was an avid gardener and had a huge garden every year. Lois liked to bowl as did Keith and they both were on a couple of different leagues at Stri-King Lanes in Hannaford, ND bowling well into their 80’s. Lois and Keith also put in time keeping Sunnyside Cemetery up where her folks are buried.
Lois is survived by her three sons, Kevin (Rebecca) Muncy, Hannaford, ND; Bruce (Debra) Muncy, Dazey, Burton Muncy, Dazey; a daughter Lori (Rich) Jensen, Aberdeen, SD; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Muncy, Tabitha Muncy, Bo Muncy, Ryder Muncy, Shaylee Muncy, Dustin (Amanda) Kamphuis, Heather (Jon) Berg, Alexandra Zumbaum, and Cassandra Zumbaum; and five great-grandchildren, Kinley Kamphuis, Taylee Kamphuis, Brielle Berg, Kennedy Berg, and Jade Muncy; and her sisters, Lorraine Hammer, Vancouver, WA and Luella Schwartz, Vancouver, WA.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Keith Muncy, of 67 years who passed away on September 10, 2020.
