Edgeley, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier Rebels beat the Oakes Tornadoes with a big fourth quarter Friday night, winning by a score of 69-61.  The game was close throughout, with the first three quarters all ending within two points, including a 33-31 Rebel lead at halftime and a 48-47 Tornado lead after the third quarter.

In the fourth, senior Alex Huber took over for the Rebels, scoring 11 points in the final quarter.  Huber led the Rebels with 25, 17 of which came in the second half.  Fellow senior Chayse Entzi led the way in the first half for the Rebels, scoring 12 of his 16 points.  Entzi also made an impact on the defensive end blocking shots, rebounding, and altering shots, while only picking up two fouls.

While the Tornadoes struggled at times offensively, senior Garret Meehl carried the offense by attacking the basket and using his size.  Meehl led all scorers with 30 points, including 16 in the first half.  Senior Steele Hansen battled a sickness earlier in the week, but he played most of the game and finished with 13 points.  The Tornadoes were without fellow senior starter Dalton Schmit, who suffered a knee injury last Saturday, but he is expected to be back as soon as next Friday.

The Tornadoes get a chance to bounce back on Monday, when Hankinson travels to Oakes.  That game is expected to start about 7:15 pm, and it will be live on KDDR 1220 am/95.9 fm and streaming on newsdakota.com.  The next live action on KDDR is the Regional wrestling dual in Oakes, with coverage beginning at 10 am Saturday morning.
