JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – It was a Blue Jay hockey doubleheader Tuesday night at Wilson Arena as the boys hosted Bottineau-Rugby in the opening round of the West Region playoffs and the girls wrapped up the regular season with Devils Lake.

In the boy’s game, the Braves, the #6 seed, skated away with a 7-4 victory and advanced to the semifinals Thursday night at Minot.

Jamestown, the #3 seed, will play a loser-out game Thursday night at 7:00 pm vs Dickinson at Wilson arena.

Sophomore Nolan Nenow scored his 23rd and 24th goals of the season and Junior Michael Mahoney notched his first goal of the season.

Jamestown was outshot 43-28 with Junior Goalie Brode Hillstrom coming up with 36 saves.

The Blue Jay girls lost to Devils Lake in the nightcap 3-2.

Jamestown outshot Devils Lake 35-23 with Senior Ella Roaldson blasting home her 17th goal of the season and Senior Kaycee Johnson scoring her second.

Senior Goalie Erika Anderson stopped 19 Firebirds shots.

Despite the loss, Jamestown advances to State and will play at #1 seed Fargo North/South on Tuesday, February 23rd in the opening round.
