VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After day one of the state wrestling tournament, five Valley City Hi-Liners reached the semifinals and eight more are still alive in the consolation rounds. As a team, Valley City is third with 119.0 points. Bismarck High lead the individual team scores with 150.5. Bismarck Century is second at 136.5.

Here is how the Hi-Liner wrestlers fared:

At 106, Koltyn Grebel lost to Clark Thompson of Bismarck Legacy in the second round. But he came back to beat Tanner Thoreson of West Fargo 12-2 and Anton Perales of Grand Forks Central by fall at 1:49. He will meet Kade Marker of Minot in the fourth round of the wrestle backs Friday.

Also at 106, Koye Grebel defeated Aaron Morris of Williston by fall at 3:32 in the second round and Brayden Morris of Bismarck Century by tech fall at 5:04, 19-3 in the quarterfinals. He will face Ben DeForest of Bismarck in the semifinals.

At 113, Logan Novara won by a medical forfeit in the second round, then defeated  Pete Rasmussen of Jamestown 10-4 in the quarterfinals. He will face Jesse Thompson in the semifinals.

At 120 Tucker Johnson defeated Joey Enzminger of Bismarck Legacy by fall at 5:01 in the round of  16. He then lost to Tyler Nelson of Minot by fall at :46 in the quarterfinals. He will wrestle Eloy Flores of West Fargo Sheyenne in the fourth round of the wrestle backs.

At 126, Ethan Miller defeated Brody Ferderer of Bismarck Century by fall at 1:22 in the second round and then defeated Houston Crimmins of Dickinson 6-4 in the quarterfinals. He will take on Aden Braun of Jamestown in the semifinals. Braun was runner-up last year at 113.

At 132, Alex Rogelstad lost to Juan Flores of Bismarck by fall at 1:07 in the second round and to Kaleb Minton of Williston by fall at 1:57 in the third round of the wrestle backs. Rogelstad ends the season with a 4-3 record.

At 138, Isaiah Schuldheisz defeated Anthony Porter by fall 40 seconds into the first round match. Then beat Anthony Carulli of Minot 3-1. Brant Fisk dfeated Schuldheisz 7-2 in the quarterfinals. Schuldheisz will face Paden Combs of Minot in the fourth round of wrestle backs.

At 145, Espen Kunze lost to Ben Weigum of Bismarck Century by fall at 2:40 in the second round. He would defeat Isaac Rostenbach by fall at 4:04 in the second round of wrestle backs then lost to Cullen Murphy of Dickinson. Kunze season ends at 9-16.

At 152, Ezra Hanse beat Myles Hinkley by tech fall at 4:56, 18-2 in the first round. He pinned Isaac Peterson of Bismarck at 3:32 in the second round, then lost to Cutter Jones of Wiliston in the quarterfinals 4-1. Hanse will wrestle Ryan Barth of Fargo Davies in the fourth round of the wrestle backs.

Also at 152, Evan Mielke lost to Mike Erickson of Grand Forks Central in the first round Isaac Peterson of Bismarck in the second round of wrestle backs. Mielke’s season ends with a 8-16 record.

At 160, Tyson Hovland lost to Tanner Nein of West Fargo 6-0 in the first round. He then beat Ashton Schaff of West Fargo Sheyenne by fall at 2:29 in the second round of wrestle backs. He then beat Zach Lange of Devils Lake 4-3 in the third round.  He will face William Ward of Fargo North in the fourth round of the wrestle backs.

At 170, Broden Muske defeated Brandon Norpel of Williston by fall at :59 in the second round, but lot to Jackson Walters of Jamestown 4-3 in the quarterfinals. He will face Landon Allex of Fargo Davies in the fourth round of the wrestle backs.

Also at 170, Kael Grebel lost to Brock Fettig by fall at 1:28 in the first round and to Brandon Norpel of Williston by fall at :46. Grebel’s season ends with a 1-6 record.

At 182, Jonathan Redfearn beat Luke Lengenfelder 10-2 in the second round then lost to Comstock Krenz o Williston 11-5 in the quarterfinals. He will face Tanner Thiel in the fourth round of the wrestle backs.

At 195, Jonah Schuldheisz beat Evan Lubken of Dickinson by fall at :39 in the second round and Christian Minton of Williston 2-0 in the quarterfinals. He will face Cade Garcia of Bismarck Century in the semifinals.

At 220, Carson McGough beat Landon Riley 7-3 in the second round then pinned Austin Kessler of Jamestown with no time left on the clock in the quarterfinals. He will face Tanner Jarrett of Dickinson in the semifinals.

At 285, Devyn Thornton lost to Damien Krebs by fall at 1:27 in the second round. Then came back and beat Cayden Nielson of Fargo South by fall at 1:45 in the second round of the wrestle backs, and Landon Fichter of Dickinson by fall at :29 in the third round. He will face Jacob Burkhard of Bismarck Century in the fourth round.
