JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown men’s volleyball team completed a sweep of the GPAC weekly awards.

Austin Jacob- Defender

Austin Jacob had himself a week and not only won GPAC defender of the week, but he also won NAIA national defender of the week. Jacob wins his 2nd weekly award as the Jimmies continue to roll this season. Jacob set a new UJ record with 8 block assists against Erskine College and averaged 1.38 blocks per set on the weekend. Jacob also worked his way into 6th place in the NAIA with 1.13 average blocks per set. Jacob also hit 27 of 47 kills adding to his stat sheet and his selection as defender of the week.

Derek Owens- Attacker

Derek Owens wins attacker of the week with fantastic play down the stretch. Owens from Andover Minnesota led the Jimmies with a .414 hit percentage in the four victories. He also had 11 kills in the win against Limestone University with only nine errors all match.

Derek Correa- Setter

Derek Correa wins setter of the week after breaking records all week for the Jimmies. Correa out of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico smashed the Jimmies record with 55 assists through 4 sets against Erskine College and against Limestone University, he also set a five-set record in assists.

Jimmies take on Morningside this Friday at 7 pm and 4 pm on Saturday.
