VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Construction of the new Barnes County jail continues along the I-94 corridor frontage road east of Valley City. On Friday, April 2nd the final wall panel of the new jail building was erected after all the new jail cells arrived.
Adolfson & Peterson Construction Senior Superintendent Konrad Johnson said a portion of the construction project was on hold until the new cells could be installed.
He said the construction project of the new Barnes County jail is scheduled to be completed in August of 2021.
The Pauly Jail Building Company established in 1856 is still making jail cell blocks. Ironically, the same company built the existing Barnes County jail cells back in 1908.
