JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – A strong first set for the Jimmies set the tone as Jamestown defeated the Ottawa Braves (25-12, 25-19, 25-22) to win the GPAC postseason title.

UJ dominated in the first set of the match, hitting .360 as a team behind a huge night up front for sophomore Samuel Jackman. The 6’5 opposite hitter led the Jimmies with 15 total kills and hit .357. For the match, Jamestown posted a .310 attacking percentage and Tanner Woods ended his night with double-digit kills at 10.

Freshman Derek Correa recorded 34 assists on the evening and provided a 6-0 run for Jamestown in the first set to open up a big lead. Derek Owens hit .364 for the Jimmies and finished with five kills on 11 total attacks. As a team, the Jimmies had a .310 attacking percentage and 19 blocks. Austin Jacob led Jamestown in blocks with six.

The Jimmies improve to 20-2 on the year and have now won 14 consecutive matches going into the NAIA Men’s Volleyball Championship. Jamestown only dropped one set over the course of conference play in the 2021 season.

The time and opponent of the Jimmies for the opening round is still yet to be determined. The second annual NAIA Men’s Volleyball Championship will start on April 20th and conclude on April 24th in Des Moines Iowa at the Iowa Events Center.
