VALLEY CITY, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Class A Gymnastics All-State Team was announced yesterday and four Blue Jays made the cut, including Rachel Schiele who was named the NDHSCA POWERade Outstanding Senior Athlete at the state meet in February.

Head Coach Dave Tews won the NDHSCA Subway Coach of the Year back in February as well, but the rest of the All-State list includes junior Haley Nelson for Jamestown on the first team. Two Blue Jays made second-team All-State with sophomore Emma Hillerud and eighth-grader Julia Skari rounding out the list for Jamestown.

Nelson took third in the individual all-around at the state meet with a 37.267. The junior had her top finish on the floor when she scored a 9.600. Nelson placed in the top 10 in all four events at the state meet in February.

Emma Hillerud had her best finish on the floor, coming in third just behind Nelson with a 9.533. Hillerud had another top ten finish on the balance beam with a 9.150. The sophomore ended with an overall score of 36.267 for seventh place.

Skari was impressive for Jamestown, finishing with three top-ten finishes in the individual competition. Her best score came on the vault with a 9.300. Skari finished eighth in the individual competition for the Blue Jays and Jamestown as a team came in third place in the all-around team championships at 144.400. Dickinson was the state champion for the fifth consecutive year.

The All-State Team was voted on by the NDHSCA.
