JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team made quick work of Saint Mary on Saturday afternoon as they swept the Spires 25-18, 25-10, and 25-14.

Jamestown struggled at the service line early in the first set, committing six total service errors in set one. However, the Jimmies hit above .400 in the first set behind a powerful attack of Anna Holen and Nicole Schmitz to take set one. Jamestown found more consistency from the service line in sets two and three as the Jimmies recorded six service aces in the final two sets.

UJ was led in kills by Anna Holen as she finished with 11 kills and 24 total digs on the afternoon. The LaMoure junior leads the Jimmies in kills this season with 282, averaging right near three kills per set. Taylor Sabinash hit .600 as she posted double-digit kills and a block assist for Jamestown. Kalli Hegerle added eight kills, Jayla Ritter finished with seven, and Corina Huff tallied six as the Jimmies spread out attack dominated once again.

Jackie Meiklejohn was the leader in assists for Jamestown with 24, and Megan Gaffaney added 18 assists for UJ. Senior Sydney Ellingson had a spectacular afternoon at libero as she registered 26 digs to go along with three service aces.

Jamestown improves to 27-1 on the year and will now advance to the final site for the NAIA National Tournament in Sioux City Iowa. The Women’s Volleyball Championship will begin on April 27th and run through May 1st.
