JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NDSU Extension) – Stutsman County 4-H held its Consumer Decision Making (CDM) contest on June 1st at the Extension office.
13 4-Her’s competed in this event. CDM is a judging contest where the youth decide which item best matches the criteria they are given. Then they give reasons to a judge and work in a team of four to present a solution to a situation using consumer skills. This contest helps teach consumerism and speaking skills.
Grand and Reserve individual high point awards were given in each of the three age groups, and team awards were also given. The grand in the beginner division, ages 8 and 9, was Elizabeth Rittenbach, the reserve was Emmi Odenbach. There was only one in the junior division, ages 10-13, and Chloe Smith was awarded grand. The senior division, ages 14-18, had 9 judgers.
Grand was Evyn Dick, reserve was Lance Kjellberg.
The grand beginner team was Emmi Odenbach, Annabelle Rittenbach, and Elizabeth Rittenbach.
The grand senior team was Evyn Dick, Jonah Dick, Lance Kjellberg and Nate Kjellberg. The reserve senior team was Rylee Kramlich, Allison Roorda, Josie Walton, and Robert Walton.
All of the entrants are eligible to compete at the state contest that will be held at the ND State Fair in Minot on July 27th.
