DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two individuals were arrested after a pursuit and property crash in Devils Lake Tuesday afternoon.

The state highway patrol attempted to stop a speeding vehicle going 93 in a 70 mph zone seven miles east of Devils Lake just before 2 PM. The vehicle was westbound towards Devils Lake when the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle fled, reaching speeds of up to 105 mph. The vehicle also crossed over into the eastbound lanes of traffic at times. The trooper disengaged west of Devils Lake while the vehicle continued at a high, dangerous rate of speed before crashing into a light pole at the intersection of US Highway 2 and 5th Ave. SE.

Driver Kaitlyn Kleven, 23, of Fargo and passenger Trista Peterman, 33, of Fargo were taken into custody.

Kleven is facing charges of aggravated reckless driving, DUI, Fleeing a Peace Officer, and Speeding. Peterman was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

The case remains under investigation. The NDHP was assisted by the Devils Lake Ambulance, Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, and Devils Lake Police Department.
