JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Day 2 of tournament action in Jamestown saw a lot of offense from all teams involved, and one of the more incredible come backs in the Wahpeton, West Fargo Vets game.

GAME 1
Bismarck Caps 6
Minot Metros 5
Day 2 got started with the match up featuring the Bismarck Caps and the Minot Metros. Both teams came off opening round losses on Friday. The Caps got 2 runs in the top of the first inning, only to see Minot put up a 5 spot in the home half of the first inning.  However, the Caps would respond right away and score 4 runs in the top of the second inning… Bismarck would hold on to win the close game 6 to 5 and move on to play the Jamestown Eagles at 3pm tomorrow afternoon at Jack Brown Stadium. 103.1FM is where you can hear all the action for the game.

GAME 2
Valley City Royals 8

In the second game of the day Valley City got a big 3-run home run from Braxton Jorissen on their way to the 8 to 4 win to advance in the double elimination tournament. The Royals scored first when Gavin Gerhardt came around to score on the fielding error by Bismarck. The big inning fir VC was the third inning. They would put up a 4 spot in the inning thanks to the 3 run homer from Jorissen.The Reps would battle back by scoring a run in the home half of the third inning and then two more in the fourth inning. However, the Royals would get 2 more in the sixth and 1 in the top of the 7th inning on their way to victory. Bismarck would add 1 in the bottom of the 7th, but their season comes to an end in the 8 to 4 loss. Valley City goes on to play in the first game tomorrow at noontime against the West Fargo Vets. That game will be broadcasted on 103.1FM.

GAME 3
West Fargo Vets 5
Wahpeton 8
Momentum was a big factor in this ball game. It started on the West Fargo side for the Vets. WF broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning thanks to a 2 RBI double from first baseman Skylar Hoard. On the mound, lefty Matt Heupel had it all going on early. He was doing a great job of mixing in his breaking pitches with his fastball. However, with his team leading 3 to 1 in the 6th inning that’s when momentum shifted in a big way in favor of Wahpeton. Isaac Loosmore would lead off the inning with a single. He would then be driven in on an RBI single from Ethan Manock. With the game tied up at 3, Josiah Hofman came up with a clutch double driving in a pair putting his team in the lead for the first time in the ball game. Wahpeton would score a total of 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to jump in front and lead 8 to 3. The Vets would not go away quietly as they would score 2 in the top of the seventh inning and would end up leaving the bases loaded to end the ball game. With the 8 to 5 win, Wahpeton will go on to take on the West Fargo Aces in the night game starting at 6pm. For the West Fargo Vets, they will take on Valley City tomorrow in the first game of the day at 12pm. You can hear that game over on 103.1FM.

The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and took a 4-3 lead, but that was short lived as the Aces pounded out six runs in the top of sixth to take the lead by five runs and they would hold Jamestown scoreless the next two innings for the victory. Jacoby Nold had two hits for Jamestown, including a single, a double, an RBI and a run scored. Carter Ohleen picks up the victory, working all seven innings, 102 pitches, four earned runs, five strikeouts, six hits and three walks. Mason Lunzman suffered the loss, working five and a third, 90 pitches, eight runs, three earned, one strikeout, 10 hits, two walks. Payton Hochhalter came in and worked an inning and a third in relief for the Eagles.
