texting-and-driving

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Texting and driving is the most common form of distracted driving, but the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) says there are many other ways drivers can be distracted on state roads and highways.

Distracted driving is dangerous and often deadly. State law enforcement agencies are teaming up to add extra patrols to enforce the law on distracted driving through the U Drive. U Text. U Pay enforcement campaign through September.

Lauren Bjork is the NDDOT Safety Public Information Program Manager. She says they recently held the same enforcement for the month of April.

The enforcement also brings attention to Vision Zero, a strategy by the NDDOT to eliminate motor vehicle crash fatalities in North Dakota.

The U Drive. U Text. U Pay. enforcement will begin September 1st and continue through the end of the month. North Dakota Highway Patrol, Sheriff’s Offices, and local police departments will all be participating.
