Linda Faye Skogen, 76, of Alexandria, MN, formerly of Valley City, ND passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021 in the St. Cloud, MN hospital. She was surrounded by her family as she passed on to her eternal home.

Linda Faye Sowden was born January 25, 1945 in Valley City, ND to Bill and LaVerne (Harrington) Sowden. She grew up the youngest of three children in Valley City. Linda graduated from Valley City College High in 1963. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Valley City State Teacher’s College in 1966. Linda taught kindergarten at the old Lincoln School and Jefferson School in Valley City for seven years. She stayed home to raise her children for many years, before returning to the education field to be a paraprofessional.

On September 18, 1965 Linda was united in marriage to Luther Skogen at Epworth United Methodist Church, Valley City. Luther and Linda met in kindergarten and spent almost 56 years together as a happily married couple. They raised their two children in Valley City, ND. They recently moved to Alexandria, MN to be close to their daughter and her family. They wintered in Mesa, AZ. Linda enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, sitting outside with a glass of wine and spending time with her family. Linda’s children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and a charter member of Chapter AZ PEO.

Linda is survived by her husband Luther, Alexandria, MN; daughter Sara (Jeremy) Anderson, Alexandria, MN and two grandchildren, Lauren and Madeline Anderson, Alexandria, MN. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Heather Skogen, Grand Forks, ND; a sister and brother-in-law Carol and Jerry Meyers, Erie, ND; a brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Janelle Skogen, Bozeman , MT and a sister-in-law, JoAnne Sowden, Billings, MT. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Skogen; her parents; her sister, Joyce Larson; her brother, Jerry Sowden; her niece Kari Rios; her nephew, Chad Meyers and her in-laws Melvin and Ardell Skogen. She will be greeted by all of her family as she enters her eternal home.

The funeral service for Linda will be 10:30am on Saturday, September 18th at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Friday September 17 at the church. A private memorial service for the family will follow visitation.
