Lorraine Adeline (Huus) Mehus, 91, Valley City, ND went to her heavenly home Sunday, September 19, 2021.  She died in her home lovingly surrounded by her family.

Lorraine was born September 14, 1930 in Hatton, ND, the daughter of Selmer and Mabel (Brenna) Huus.  She was a Tomboy who loved living on the farm and playing outdoors with her siblings.  While attending school in Hatton she met the love of her life George Arthur Mehus.

Lorraine married (George) Arthur Mehus November 29, 1948.  They moved with their family in 1960 to Valley City where she resided until her death.  Lorraine lovingly spent her life taking care of her daughter with Down syndrome, Janine Sue.

Lorraine loved becoming a grandmother and enjoyed teaching and playing card games with her family.  She had an amazing green thumb and took pride in her landscaping skills.  In later years, Lorraine spent winters in Mesa, AZ.  She loved the time with her Arizona family and the warmth of the sun.

Lorraine is survived by her two sons Larry Mehus, Fargo, ND and Gary (Carolyn) Mehus Mesa, AZ; her four daughters, LaVae Bannon, Otsego, MN, Gayle Mehus, Mesa, AZ, Laurelle Mehus and Janine Sue Mehus of Valley City; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.   Lorraine is also survived by her sister Darlene Hanson, one step brother, three half sisters and five half brothers.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her infant daughter; her loving foster child Tom Towler; her two sisters Muriel Bjerke and Elaine Kelly; her two brothers Selmer Huus Jr. and Duane Huus and by one step brother.

Lorraine’s family was blessed with an angel that has gone home and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Friday, September 24th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City. The funeral service will be Saturday, September 25th at 10:30 am at the church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Hatton.  Per request of Lorraine’s family masks will be required.  Lorraine’s funeral will be viewable at https://vimeo.com/610852349
