Donald L. Winings, age 68, of Valley City, ND, passed away at his home under the care of CHI Hospice on October 20, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, October 25th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Valley City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the Church on Monday. Donald was born September 6, 1953 to Howard and Evelyn Winings. He attended school in Oriska and Arthur. Donald married Rita Rath in 1976 and they made their home in Valley City. Donald worked as an over the road truck driver and mechanic. For several years he worked for the Barnes County Highway Department retiring early due to health issues. Donald loved to fish. He shared many fun fishing trips with his friends and family. His favorite place to be was with his wife and family. He was an extremely supportive dad and grandpa. The last several summers he spent with his grandson Carson. They were always busy fixing up the boat and visiting.
Donald is survived by his wife Rita Winings, daughter Vicki (Tim) Hass, son in law Jeff Falstad, sister Janine Winings(Mark Feist). Grandchildren: Lexi (Cody) Wilson, Sarah (Matt) Miller, Carson, Carter, and Claire Hass. Great grandchildren Kayla and Madison Wilson and Axel Miller.
Donald was preceded in death by his daughter Kristy Falstad, son Travis Winings, grandson Jordan Johnson, Brother Robin Winings and sister in law Cindy Rath.
