JAMESTOWN, ND. (jimmiepride.com) – The University of Jamestown men’s soccer team returned to winning ways Wednesday night, defeating Dordt (Iowa) University 4-0 at the Jimmie Turf Field.

UJ snapped a three-match losing streak and improved to 6-7-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the GPAC. The Jimmies return to action next Wednesday at home against Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University.

Aaron Pike (SR/Milton Keynes, England) staked Jamestown to a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute, heading home a cross by Max Gross (SR/Boeblingen, Germany).

Diego Valle (SR/Yucaipa, Calif.) and Gross combined to set up Frankie Parkinson (FR/Bournemouth, England) for UJ’s second goal, coming in the 49th minute. Valle delivered a clean through pass to Gross streaking up the right wing, and a quick one-touch pass found Parkinson in stride.

Valle delivered his second assist on Eric Fairtlough (SR/Varese, Italy)’s 59th minute goal. Fairtlough was able to draw the Dordt keeper out of the goal box, getting the favorable angle to make it 3-0.

In the 65th minute, Dordt’s CJ Schultz brought down Valle in the 18-yard box and was shown a yellow card, giving a penalty kick to the Jimmies. Valle converted from the spot to extend Jamestown’s lead to 4-0.

Shots ended 17-5 in favor of UJ, as did shots on goal (9-2). Alex Hamer (SR/Solihull, England) made one save before Mathew English (FR/Cheyenne, Wyo.) came on in the 84th minute. English also had a save.
