Marjorie (Zink) Jorissen, 82, of Valley City, ND, died Sunday, Nov. 14 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Marjorie was born Nov. 14, 1939 to Laurence and Francella Zink of Bordulac, ND.  She was raised with her brothers and sisters on the family farm before graduating as an RN from the Sisters of St Joseph School of Nursing.  She had a long successful and varied career as a nurse in several states.  She married Walter (”Bud”) Jorissen on May 19, 1975. They farmed near and lived in Valley City where they raised their son and daughter.

Marjorie will be remembered as a strong woman with a soft heart, as shown by her love and kindness to family and friends, neighbors, patients, and myriad animals.  She was a sports fan, watching basketball and football, with a special attention to NDSU, the Vikings, and the Chiefs.  She enjoyed playing cards and doing jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by her husband, Walter; son Rod Jorissen of Valley City; and daughter and son-in-law Rene and John Russell of Moorhead, MN.  She is also survived by her brothers: Vern (Bev) Zink of Bismarck, ND; Ray (Alita) Zink of Bismarck, ND; and Lester (Bernice) of New Munich, MN; her sisters: Marilyn (James) Hoffman of Palatine, IL, Carol (David) Hughes of Salt Lake City, UT, and Kathy Koenig of Kansas City, MO as well as her sister-in-law Virginia Zink of St. Paul, MN.  Her many nieces and nephews will mourn losing the aunt they loved and respected.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gerald and infant sister Lucille.

At the family’s request, there are no services planned but if you would like to honor Marjorie she always said “when I die, I hope people buy flowers for their selves or their loved ones and remember me.”

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.  An online guestbook is available at www.olivernathanchapel.com
