JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Pastor Douglass Chimanga and his wife Immaculee were both born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) in Central Africa.

They fled the country in 1998 and went to Rwanda and Burundi due to the atrocities they faced that took a number of his own family. Now in Jamestown, Chimanga says he has created the Dorcas Society Ministry to help others who have faced the same atrocities others face today.

Chimanga says the efforts of Dorcas Society Ministry focus on Minenga, just east of the DR Congo. He says those they help are facing challenges such as lack of food, lack of access to Education, sanitary problems, illiteracy, lack of clean water, lack of access to basic health facilities, some people with HIV aids infections

The Dorcas Society Ministry was created to promote spiritual growth, understanding, and confidence with God, and accomplish this primarily through the avenues of prayer, teaching, encouraging people in their Christian faith, and helping people in need.

Chimanga says he continues to have discussions with people locally to assist in finding ways to support more than 3,000 who need their help.
