VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Valley City passed three resolutions that established new electrical, garbage and storm sewer rates and fees that will be implemented in 2022 for residential and commercial users.

Public Works Accountant/Manager Gary Jacobson said the city will be increasing the electrical rate consumption charge by 1/10 of a cent and the demand charge by .80 cents for large power users only. He said currently there are 74 large power customers in the city.

He said the residential garbage fee will increase by one dollar and the commercial rate will increase by two dollars.

Jacobson said the rates for surface draining and storm sewer cleaning and maintenance fee will increase by $1.50.

He talked about why the city had to implement the rate increases.
