VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Valley City has designated the 3rd Friday of June as Peggy Lee Day to coincide with the kickoff to Rally in the Valley. The inaugural event will be held on June 17th.

Myron Sommerfeld said before Peggy Lee was an international star, she was born Norma Egstrom in Jamestown in 1920. In 1936, Bob Ingstad Sr. gave her a chance to sing on KOVC Radio. He said on Thursday, May 26th there will be a celebration of her birth date at the Midland Continental Railroad Depot, home of the Peggy Lee Museum in Wimbledon.

Sommerfeld said thanks to all the area people and sponsors for promoting the first Peggy Lee Day coming up Friday, June 17th in Valley City.
