VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City legion baseball club kicked off their home schedule by hosting the Grand Forks Blues in a double header on Tuesday. Valley City had their offense going in both ball games as they would score in the double digits in each game. Valley City wins games 1 by a score of 13-7, and winning the second game 15-5.

Game 1 – Valley City 13 Grand Forks 7:

In Game 1 Valley City would get production all through out their line up. Braxton Jorissen would go 2-4 at the plate and drive in a pair of runs, Broden Muske would go 2-3 driving in 2 runs, and Devyn Thornton would also have 2 RBI’s along with going 1-2 at the plate. In total Valley City would get 11 hits in the game. On the mound, Adam Bitz got the start and went 3 and 1/3 innings striking out 2. Carver Pederson would come in in relief and give up just 2 hits in 2 and 2/3 while striking out a pair. Joe Cummings would pitch the 7th inning and strike out 1 to close out the game

Game 2 – Valley City 15 Grand Forks 5:

In the second game of the double header Valley City once again would reach double digits. Broden Muske would lead the way for the offense going 3-4 at the plate and driving home 4 runs. Joe Cummings would bring in 3-runs in the second game. Braxton Jorissen, Gavin Gerhardt, and Devyn Thornton would all drive in 2 runs, and Ethan Miller would have an RBI in the game. On the mound, Broden Muske got the start and pitched 2/3 of an inning. Devyn Thornton would come in in the first inning and pitch the remainder of the 5 inning game. Thornton would give up 2 hits, 2 earned runs while striking out 5 batters.

Up next for Valley City, they will travel on Thursday to take on Casselton in their first road game(s) of the season.
