NOME, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Nome School House received the Daughters of the American Revolution Excellence in Historic Preservation Certificate and Medal on Thursday, June 16th.

Sandy Sidler is the North Dakota State Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She said the certificate and medal recognize outstanding individuals and organizations that promote historic preservation, the VanBuren Administration created the certificate and medal. She said the recognition honors individuals and groups that have saved or preserved their local history, including restoration of buildings and other important artifacts.

Daughters of the American Revolution Dacotah Chapter president Kristin McDonald said following a presentation by owners Chris Armbrust and Teresa Perleberg, National President General Denise Doring VanBuren was so impressed that she recommended we present this award to the Nome Schoolhouse.

The North Dakota State Society held its annual conference in Fargo back in May of 2022. The National President General attended and the Nome Schoolhouse gave a presentation about their business. Following this, President General Denise Doring VanBuren was so impressed, she recommended that we present this award to the owners Chris Armbrust and Teresa Perleberg said Sandy Sidler, North Dakota State Regent.

The owners, Chris Armbrust and Teresa Perleberg said the restored schoolhouse offers guests spaces where they can immerse themselves in the kind of peace and tranquility that is unique to rural North Dakota. The schoolhouse is located on the eastern edge of  Nome, N.D. The floor to ceiling windows allow our guests to experience the beautiful outdoors while enjoying all the indoor comforts of our tastefully appointed Fiber Arts Boutique Hotel and Event Center. The fiber is raised, produced and processed in the basement of the restored schoolhouse in Nome, N.D.
