WAHPETON, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The #1 Jamestown Blue Jay football team traveled to Wahpeton on Friday night and fell for the first time this year in a 14-13 loss to the Huskies.

Scoring was limited in the first half but in the first 12 minutes of play, Payton Hochhalter connected with Tyson Jorrison to cap a 40-yard opening drive with a score. Late in the second quarter, Hochhalter found Jackson Walters from five yards out to push Jamestown ahead 13-0. Wahpeton would score in the final minute of the first half to make it a 13-6 game at the break.

In the second half, the Huskies took the lead at the tail end of the third quarter and converted on a two-point conversion to go in front 14-13 heading into the fourth. Jamestown committed too many mistakes on defense, jumping into the neutral zone on four different occasions to help Wahpeton pick up first downs.

Jamestown had a chance in the final minute of the game to try and drive down and win the game. The Blue Jays drove 84 of the 90 yards they needed before a Husky interception in the endzone ended the game.

With the loss, the Blue Jays drop to 4-1 overall on the season and snap a nine-game winning streak dating back to last year. Jamestown hosts Dickinson next Friday night at 7:00 PM from Hansen Stadium.
