BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Rockets were back in action at the State B Volleyball tournament on Friday in the consolation round, after dropping to Linton/HMB 3-1 on the opening day. The Rockets and Troopers battled to five sets and New Rockford/Sheyenne came out on top with a dominating performance in set five to win 3-2 (23-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-19, 15-7). NRS improves to 24-12 overall, Garrison drops to 25-4-3 overall.

The Troopers came out strong right from the get go in set one, they never trailed the Rockets, they tried to come back towards the end but Senior Karli Klein and the rest of the Troopers were to much. Set two, the Rockets jumped to an early 7-2 lead, but Garrison kept it close for the most part, but the Rockets pulled it out in extras. Set three was pretty close the entire set and in set four, there was an early tie but NRS led most of the way. In set five, the Rockets dominated jumping out to an early 7-0 lead before a timeout was called by the Troopers.

Junior Kelsie Belquist had a match high 22 kills, she hit her 1,000th kill in set two, she added four aces and one stuff block. The Rockets had a total of 16 aces in the contest. Lucy Meier added nine kills and three aces, Lora Wobbema had eight kills and Madi Myhre had six kills. Klein led the Troopers with 18 kills.

Next up for NRS will be on Saturday at 10am in the consolation championship in the Main Arena of the Bismarck Events Center, they will take on the winner of Our Redeemers/Dickinson Trinity, the contest can be heard on Thunder Country 98.3 and newsdakota.com.
