FESSENDEN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Cardinals played their last regular season game of the year Monday night in Fessenden, and they defeat the Hornets of Harvey/Wells County by the final score of 62-30. RV Carrington is now 15-4 overall, HWC drops to 6-13 overall.

The Cardinals put up eight 3-pointers in the first half and two in the second half, they never trailed in the contest after a tie early on at three. Leading the way for the Cardinals was Junior Kacie Rexin with 14 points, all in the first half, including four treys. She started for the injured Edyn Hoornaert, who broke her hand last week Thursday in a game against New Rockford/Sheyenne, she will be out the rest of the season. Madi Johnson added 13, including three treys. HWC was led by Rachel Neumiller with nine.

Next up for Carrington will be the District 5 Girls Basketball tournament at the Jamestown Civic Center, February 10th, 11th and 13th. Thunder Country 98.3 and newsdakota.com will broadcast the entire tourney. Carrington is the number one overall seed and will have a first round bye on Friday, Feb. 10th. They will play on Saturday night in the first semifinal against the winner of Lamoure/LM and Ellendale around 6pm.
