CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Cardinals picked up two Region 3 victories over the Mustangs of Nelson County, both games the Cardinals won by the score of 11-0. The first game they won by 10-run rule in five innings, the second game went to the seventh inning. In the second game, Grady Shipman of Carrington hit a 2-run homer over the right field wall, his fourth of the year. Carrington is now 9-1 in R3 and 12-4 overall, NC drops to 1-9 in R3 and 2-11 overall.

The two games at home on Tuesday for Carrington were only the second and third games played at home the entire season for the Cardinals, after another wet spring caused them to play most of their games on the road.

The Cardinals will be the two seed in the upcoming Region 3 Baseball tournament in New Rockford, that starts Monday. NC Mustangs will be the sixth seed and will travel to Steele on Thursday, May 18th to take on Kidder County in the first round of the Region 3 tourney. Thunder 98.3 and newsdakota.com will broadcast all the games on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22nd-24th of the Region 3 tournament.
