BISMARCK – A state championship highlighted Jamestown Blue Jays’ track & field performance in the 2026 state meet, which concluded Saturday at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.

Jamestown’s boys 4×400 relay team won the championship in a time of 3:22.45.  Ryker Stoddart, Heath Heupel, Gradin Thorlakson and Aiden Skari ran the best boys 4×400 relay time in North Dakota this season.

The Blue Jays’ boys 4×200 relay team of Stoddart, Jared Sagaser, Thorlakson and Skari finished fourth in 1:29.30.

Also, there were three individual place winners for Jamestown.  Cody Berreth was third in the shot put with a personal best throw of 56 feet, 4 inches.  Skari was fifth in the triple jump at 41 feet, 11 inches and seventh in the 400 meters in a personal best 50.77 seconds.

Overall, Jamestown scored 27 points to finish 11th of 21 boys teams.

Two Blue Jay girls earned points.  Layna Hoffer was third in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 3 inches.  Hayden Olson was sixth in the triple jump with 35 feet, 8 and 3/4 inches.  Jamestown’s girls were 19th overall with eight points.
